New Beginning (2021)
There are rare times in life when we have the chance to experience a new beginning. It often occurs when one door closes and another opens, amidst major disruptions such as being laid off, finding another job and relocating to a new city, recovering from a health scare and transitioning to a healthier lifestyle, or ending a relationship and embarking on a journey of self-discovery. Just like the Chinese saying, “塞翁失馬焉知非福” which means, a man lost his horse, and he didn’t know it was a blessing. Losing the horse ended up saving his life because the horse was dangerous and it killed the thief. Every closed door is a blessing and an opportunity.

This image was created unintentionally. While I was shooting for an exciting idea, this composite concept suddenly came to mind at the end of the shoot. The setup for the idea was quite simple and easy, so I decided to give it a try. It turned out great, and I have won several awards for this image. I used a special texture overlay to simulate the mother’s womb for this image. The pose resembles that of a baby in an ultrasound, poised for birth, symbolizing a new beginning.
